Free showing of movie The Passion Of The Christ – Saturday at Odyssey Cinemas

This weekend is one of the most recognized periods of time for the Christian religion as this is the time those of faith in Jesus Christ remember when he was crucified on the cross, and then rose again 3 days later. To help recognize the religious significance, a local priest is sponsoring a free viewing of the movie
The Passion of the Christ.

Fr. Ryan Pruess of the Holy Family Catholic Community is hosting the viewing of the movie Saturday at 10 AM at Odyssey Cinemas at 1131 W. Scott Street in Fond du Lac.

The movie, which was made in 2004, was directed by Mel Gibson and stars Jim Caviezel and is a powerful retelling of Christ’s crucifixion, based on the New Testament.

The film primarily covers the final twelve hours before Christ’s death, known as “the Passion”.

The film was controversial when first released receiving polarized reviews from critics; with some regarded the film a religious and holy experience, praising the performances of the cast, while some found it to be antisemitic and the graphic violence to be extreme and emotionally draining.

The event is free and will be playing in multiple theaters to accommodate any size crowd that attends.
