Gas prices continue to fall

Wisconsinites are getting a late Christmas gift this week as gas prices continue to lower.

Just about all gas stations in the city of Fond du Lac are siting at $2.29, with one at $2.27 and a couple yet to come down from earlier in the week.

According to AAA, at an average of $2.29 per gallon, that is .15 below the state average of $2.44 per gallon and .54 below the national average at $2.83 per gallon.

According to the website GasBuddy.com, the lowest price found in Wisconsin was a lone gas station in Waukesha which was at $2.15 per gallon.

The lowest price per gallon found in the US Friday morning was $1.89 in Oklahoma.

The price is dropping due to a global oversupply of crude oil, meeting lower-than-expected demand, coupled with the switch to cheaper winter-blend gasoline, and a lack of major refinery disruptions, creates a market where supply outpaces consumption, pushing prices down.

Based on forecasts from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and other experts, the trend of lower gas prices is expected to continue into 2026.
