Hazel L. Stephenson Scholarship Recipients Named

The Hazel L. Stephenson Scholarship Committee has selected 9 Fond du Lac County young adults to receive scholarships for the upcoming school year. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the fund. The Stephenson Scholarship Fund was established in 1974 by the will of the late Hazel L. Stephenson of Fond du Lac. Its purpose is to assist students from the county in attaining or completing an education at a UW System school.

A total of $12,000 will be distributed among the following recipients (in alphabetical order):

Aden Anderson. Aden is a returning student at UW-Madison. He is working towards a degree in engineering mechanics with a certificate in business. His career plans are to work as an engineer in the auto industry. He is a 2023 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. Parents are Arden and Tracy Anderson of Fond du Lac.

Jaimie Deschand. Jaimie is a current student at UW-Stevens Point and majoring in mathematics with an actuarial emphasis. She would like to work as an actuary. She is a 2022 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. Parents are Kathi Seidl-Deschand and David Deschand of Fond du Lac.

Ella Goebel. Ella is a returning student at UW-Madison. Her major is rehabilitation psychology, with the career goal of working in occupational therapy. She is a 2023 graduate of Campbellsport High School. Parents are Jill and Gary Goebel of Eden.

Haley Huenink. Haley is a current student at UW-La Crosse where she majors in biology with a focus on biomedical science. Her goal is to work as a physician’s assistant. She is a 2021 graduate of Waupun Area High School. Parents are Ken and Amy Huenink of Brandon.

Jaiden Lefeber. Jaiden is a returning student at UW-Milwaukee. She plans to earn her degree in environmental engineering. She is a 2023 graduate of New Holstein High School. Parents are Barbara and Timothy Lefeber of Saint Cloud.

Olivia Lese. Olivia will be a first year student at UW-La Crosse this fall. She plans to major in biology and would like to become a physical therapist. She is a recent graduate of Waupun Area High School. Parents are Jackie and Jason Lese of Waupun.

Cameron Pokorny. Cameron is a current student at UW-Platteville majoring in software engineering, with a minor in agribusiness. His career goal is to become a software developer in agriculture technologies. He is a 2022 graduate of Waupun Area High School. Parents are Doyle and Kim Pokorny of Waupun.

Hannah Scholten. Hannah is a returning student at UW-La Crosse, where she majors in business administration. She would like to work as a healthcare project manager. She is a 2021 graduate of Waupun Area High School. Parents are Angelo and Kelly Scholten of Waupun.

Callista Vande Berg. Callista will be a first year student at UW-Oshkosh. She plans to major in social work. Her career goal is to work in a healthcare setting as a social worker. She is a recent graduate of Laconia High School. Parents are Chad and Tammy Vande Berg of Eldorado.
