Holy Family Catholic Community to offer fun and music for all at summer festival

The entire community is invited to come celebrate summer with delicious food, live music, and wide-ranging entertainment when Holy Family Catholic Community hosts its Summer Festival August 22-23 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Center.

For decades, festivals have been part of the fabric of parish life in Fond du Lac. In recent years, Holy Family hosted Oktoberfest, paying tribute to the area’s German roots, and Latin Flavor, celebrating the area’s Hispanic community. After many years, the parish returned its festival to the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds to celebrate Holy Family’s 25th Anniversary last year.

On Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, Holy Family invites people from around the area to come to the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Center for a weekend of entertainment fitting people of all ages at its Summer Festival.

The festival will begin on both days with Mass. Mass will be offered at 4:00 pm on August 22 and 10:00 am on August 23.

The festivities will continue after with live music from lively bands, including the Mike Schneider Polka Band from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Herradura Norteña from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on August 22 and Mariachi Sol Del Madison from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and Dorf

Kapelle from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on August 23. Music is sponsored by Holiday Automotive, the Joe & Dawn Colwin Family Foundation, Michels, and Zacherl Funeral Home.

In addition to music, people will enjoy a variety of entertainment, from a petting zoo and pony rides, to mini golf, inflatable bounce houses, inflatable axe throwing, a balloon twister, facepainting, glitter art tattoos, and Marian University bingo.

“This year, we are blessed to add on new entertainment, like the petting zoo and mini golf, with the hope of offering something that everyone can enjoy!” Holy Family Catholic Community Pastor Very Rev. Ryan J Pruess said.

Those in attendance will also have the chance to try their luck in 50/50 raffles and the annual basket raffle with baskets valued up to $500 in this year’s lineup!

A smorgasbord of food will be available for purchase throughout the weekend, including hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, snow cones, desserts, and more! Refreshments, such as soda and beer, will also be available for purchase.

The festival will run from 4:00 to 8:30 pm on Saturday, August 22 and 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, August 23. Admission is free, so bring the whole family!

“The festival experience has always been about bringing people together to celebrate and have fun. That is our goal with our Summer Festival: to offer a weekend that gives people from across our community the chance to come together, relax, and have a good time,” Pruess said.
