Improvements To Herr Baker Field Would Pave The Way For Northwoods League Team

Marian University is requesting approval of a special use permit to expand Herr-Baker Field with the possibility of bringing a team in that will play in the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is one of the premiere amateur baseball leagues in the country. It’s a summer baseball league for college players across the country. Fond du Lac Principal Planner Joellyn Dahlin says the special use permit would allow improvements to the field. She says a number of improvements would be made if the special use permit is approved. She says that includes expanded bleacher and seating areas that could accommodate up to 2,000 people, new restrooms, increased concession areas, and a press box. The City’s Plan Commission takes up the special use permit next Monday night at 5:30 p.m. They will consider whether to recommend approval to the City Council.
