Life-size statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe makes appearance on tour at Holy Family

Holy Family Catholic Community has announced it will host a historic international pilgrimage this week of “Madre Peregrina” which means Pilgrim Mother in Spanish. Its a life-size statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The statue, originally from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, is currently on an international tour, held in anticipation of the approaching 500th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The relic statue, specially commissioned as a life-sized depiction of Mary as she appeared on the Tilma of St. Juan Diego, travels along with several reproductions of the Tilma image and a painting of St. Juan Diego. The pilgrimage began in Chicago this past August, where tens of thousands came to view the image.

Those wishing to view the statue can do so at Holy Family Church, at 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac through Wednesday. The experiences includes a multimedia presentation, time for veneration and the writing of prayer intentions by the public.

Viewings will be held at:

Monday and Tuesday: at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm

and Wednesday at 10:00 am

Doors open 30 minutes before each experience and close 30 minutes after they begin.

While not required, it is highly suggested that people reserve a spot for one of the experiences. To do so, visit the website www.guadalupewi.org/fonddulac.
