Local Organizations Receive Transportation Grants

Two organizations that provide transportation services to low-income
workers in the Fond du Lac County area were among the recipients of grants from
the Wisconsin Employment and Transportation Assistance Program (WETAP).


The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced the grants
on Monday – which totaled over $1.7 million to 11 non-profits in 51 counties
throughout the state.


Organizations in the area receiving grants include Advocap,
which serves Fond du Lac, Winnebago, Calumet and Green Lake counties. Advocap
received a grant of $128,059 for “Vehicle Loans and Mobility Management” and a
grant of $36,658 for operating projects.


The Forward Service Corporation also serves Fond du Lac, Calumet,
Dodge, Green Lake and Winnebago counties – it received $256,073 for Vehicle
Loans and Mobility Management and $20,018 for operating projects.


The WETAP combines funding from the Department of
Transportation and the Department of Workforce Development and federal funds into
one program to assist non-profit agencies, local governments and operators of
public transit in the state provide transportation services to low-income
residents.
