Lomira fire kills pets, displaces residents

Several people were treated for minor injuries after a fire Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at a multi-family home on Main Street in Lomira.

Firefighters were called around 12:15 p.m. for a report of flames and smoke coming from the second floor of the four-unit building which was built in 1908.

Crews had to assist several occupants out of a second-story window. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the second-floor apartments.

Two cats and a dog died in the fire, while four guinea pigs were found safe after the fire was extinguished.

The Red Cross was contacted to help residents who were displaced.

Fire departments and emergency crews from several surrounding communities assisted at the scene.
