Lomira Football Advances to State Semi-Final

The Lomira Lions football team advanced to the state semi-final with a 24-7 victory over Cedar Grove-Belgium. In a game featuring two teams with dominant running games, it was the Lomira defense that stood out. Lomira forced three turnovers, including a fumble in the first half that resulted in a 47-yard touchdown run by Taylor Schaumberg. Cedar Grove-Belgium quarterback Carter Schmitz faced constant pressure in the second half, leading to two interceptions. Senior Nathan Steinman’s pick-six in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for Lomira.

Next up, Lomira will face 8th-seeded Belleville, who upset Lancaster 35-32 last night, in the state semi-final next Friday night.
