Madison and Appleton deal with recent shooting deaths
The investigation into two deadly shootings in Madison over the weekend, comes just days after two people were found dead with gunshot wounds in Appleton.
There is no indication the incidents are connected, but the latest shootings have added to concerns about deadly gun violence in Wisconsin communities.
Madison police say the first of the two shootings happened Friday night, around 8:15, in the 2300 block of Calypso Road.
Officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigators believe that shooting was targeted.
Police also say a bullet entered a nearby apartment and came within inches of striking a man who was watching television inside.
Two men identified as persons of interest were taken into custody on separate charges as the investigation continues.
A second deadly shooting happened just hours later, early Saturday morning.
Around 1:40 a.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Regent Street for a disturbance outside a bar.
They found a 32-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police say they are still working to determine what led to that shooting. No arrests had been reported in that case as of Saturday morning.
Police in Appleton have released very few details about their shooting and as of yet, no suspects have been announced taken into custody.
