Man captured after being outside for over an hour after high speed pursuit

A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper was involved in a high speed pursuit last night in Outagamie County.

At about 12:30 am, Monday, December 15, 2025, the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over northbound on I-41 for speeding through the construction zone on the northwest side of Appleton. When the trooper activated their lights and siren, the driver accelerated to 114 mph.

The pursuit continued north about 10 when another trooper had a tire deflation device set up across the road. Both the fleeing driver and the pursuing trooper struck the device. The trooper immediately stopped the pursuit while the driver continued.

The vehicle was soon found abandoned another couple miles north at the Brown County line.

State Patrol Troopers along with officers from both Outagamie and Brown County set up a perimeter while a police K9 tracked the man.

He was found about an hour and 20 minutes later at the entrance to the Apple Valley Campground, about a half mile away from where he left his vehicle.

The man was taken into custody and brought to the hospital to be checked out for exposure to the cold.
