Man charged with sex trafficking in Oshkosh after undercover operation by police
The Oshkosh Police Department has announced they took a 32-year-old man from Texas into custody Friday, January 10, 2025, in relation to a sex trafficking incident they discovered while working undercover.
Investigation revealed that a female victim was staying at a local hotel and was involved in human trafficking activities. An undercover officer was set to meet with her at the hotel, while other officers watched the area. Just before the scheduled meeting, a man was seen leaving the room.
Officers approached him, and after resisting efforts to be detained, he was arrested. He was found in possession of a stolen firearm and a substantial amount of illegal drugs. A search of the hotel room uncovered a second firearm and additional drugs.
Further investigation confirmed the man had been forcing the female to participate in these activities against her will for several months, traveling across multiple states, eventually ending up in Oshkosh.
The man faces multiple felony charges, including Human Trafficking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and various counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine. He’s currently being held at the Winnebago County Jail.
Winnebago County is now working to reunite the woman with her family and get her the support needed to recover and leave this lifestyle behind.
