Man driving stolen vehicle leads police on pursuit before crashing

Authorities in Oshkosh took a suspect into custody early Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, after he led police on a pursuit throughout the city in a stolen car.

The incident started out with a stolen vehicle complaint Friday night. At 4:22 Saturday morning, a city of Oshkosh officer came across the vehicle on Westbrook Drive near Witzel Avenue but the driver took off in an attempt to elude the officer.

While speeding away, the suspect struck a city of Oshkosh Police cruiser.

After striking the Oshkosh Officer’s vehicle, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper took over the pursuit with Winnebago County Deputies joining in as well.

The pursuit reached speeds of 60 mph on snow covered roads lasting about 10 minutes through much of the city until the suspect crashed on 20th Street near Washburn Street, just west of I-41. At that time the suspect took off on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and followed his tracks to a garage where they took him into custody.
