Man found guilty of sister’s death due to fentanyl

After a five day trial in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court, 39-year-old Christopher Hoerth was convicted of First-Degree Reckless Homicide for the delivery of Fentanyl to his sister on May 6th of 2020, leading to her death.

According to the criminal complaint, on May 7th of 2020, North Fond du Lac Officers and Ambulance responded to a deceased woman report in the 600 block of Florida Avenue. Police investigating the death were able to determine through phone texts on the victim’s phone that Hoerth was the person that delivered the fentanyl.

Hoerth had previously pleaded no contest to the homicide charge but later withdrew that plea, leading to the trial.

On Friday, April 4, 2025, he was found guilty of the death and felony bail jumping. Both convictions have a repeater enhancer, and he faces over 30 years of initial confinement.  A sentencing date has not yet been set.
