Man in custody after Fond du Lac County high speed pursuit

A Fox Lake man is facing several charges following a police pursuit Monday night, September 7, 2026.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says a sergeant spotted a silver Volkswagen traveling 54 miles per hour in a posted 30-mile-per-hour zone on south Main Street near Guindon Boulevard in Fond du Lac around 8 p.m.

The driver failed to stop and continued south on Highway 175, reaching speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.

A deputy deployed a tire-deflation device near Highway 175 and County Highway B, successfully flattening the vehicle’s driver-side tires. The Volkswagen eventually stopped on Highway 175 south of Church Road.

Deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop, but investigators say the driver ignored repeated commands to stop and moved toward deputies. A Taser was deployed, allowing deputies to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect, a 20-year-old Fox Lake man, was treated for minor injuries and later taken to a local hospital for medical clearance.

He was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on suspicion of fleeing and eluding, operating while impaired and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued several traffic citations.

The pursuit covered about six miles. Highway 175 was closed in both directions for about an hour and 15 minutes while crews worked the scene.
