Man in custody after running from Fond du Lac County traffic stop

A man is in custody Tuesday morning, April 23, 2024, after running on foot from a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County.

At 3:20 this morning, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper pulled a vehicle over on I-41 near the North Fond du Lac Exit. Upon investigation, the trooper learned the lone occupant of the vehicle was in possession of a gun. The trooper asked dispatch to see if the driver had a valid concealed carry license and that was when the suspect took off running on foot.

The trooper, as well as a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officer near by, started chasing the man towards the Stretch Truck Stop where they lost site of him.

As more officers were coming on scene to assist, he was seen running west across the interstate where he was captured near the southbound on-ramp to 41.

According to scanner traffic, a small amount of THC was found in the vehicle and the man was on probation for drug activity. More possible evidence was found as daybreak spread light on the area, but it’s not known what that may have been.

No official release has been issued from either law enforcement agency at this time.
