Man taken into custody after brief pursuit in Fond du Lac County

A man was taken into custody overnight Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after being reported as a drunk driver and initially not stopping for law enforcement.

Just before 9:30 p.m., a citizen had reported that a person who appeared to be intoxicated was getting into a vehicle to drive at a gas station on Highway D just southwest of the City of Fond du Lac. The caller advised the driver left south on D and then got onto southbound Highway 151.

At that time a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy got behind the vehicle.

The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but the vehicle continued southbound at around 60 mph.

After a few more miles, the driver pulled onto Schaefer Drive in the village of Lamartine and now, with multiple officers in pursuit, they boxed the driver in. According to police scanner transmissions, at least one squad car was damaged in the stop.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and eluding an officer.
