Marathon County woman taken into custody after short City of Fond du Lac pursuit
A Marathon County woman was arrested in the City of Fond du Lac last night after trying to elude an officer and dispose of illegal substances.
Just after 9:30 p.m. a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office pulled a vehicle over on west Johnson Street near Hickory Street for an equipment violation.
Upon making contact with the driver and requesting several times she exit the vehicle, The driver placed the vehicle into drive and fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed, reaching 70 mph on Johnson Street before again coming to a stop several blocks away.
Deputies and City of Fond du Lac Officers boxed the vehicle in to prevent further escape and the driver was taken into custody without incident.
It was believed the driver had thrown something from the vehicle after fleeing from the stop location, so officers walked the area locating illegal contraband in the vicinity of the stop location and where the vehicle had traveled.
The 37-year-old woman was taken into custody on felony fleeing and eluding, obstructing, misdemeanor bail jumping, and additional charges relating to possession of controlled substances.
