Mercury Marine Employees Avoid Strike, Voting Yes On New Contract Just Hours Before Old Contract Expires

Mercury Marine Union members voted yes to ratify a new contract just hours before their old contract was set to expire.

Employees met two weeks ago and initially turned down the contract and voted to strike. A final vote took place at 9 AM this morning, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Fond du Lac High School where they accepted the new terms in the contract.

Company officials and employees have been in talks for the last couple weeks over the new 70 page contract which includes revisions to policies such as paid time off, the number of holidays off with pay, 401K, wage increases and insurance premiums.

The new contract is good for five years. The old contract was set to expire at midnight.

Mercury Marine is Fond du Lac’s largest employer.
