Multiple weather advisories in place for Fond du Lac area

As a major winter storm continues to draw closer, the National Weather Service has started isuing winter weather headlines and updating the wind forecast.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the entire area, going into effect Saturday night at 7:00 through Monday afternoon at 4:00.

Here is wording from the watch…

* WHERE...Portions of east central, south central, and southeast
  Wisconsin.

* WHEN...From Saturday evening through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible due to
  the heavy snow and wintry mix. The hazardous conditions could
  impact the Monday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There remains a fair amount of uncertainty
  with the track of this system as well as resultant precipitation
  types and amounts.

The Wind Advisory that was in effect for tonight into Friday has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning that will be in effect from 4 a.m. Friday to 4 p.m Friday.

Here is the wording for the wind warning….

* WHAT...West to northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60
mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central, south central, and southeast
Wisconsin.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 4 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds can blow down trees and power lines.
Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid windows during the windstorm. Watch for falling debris and
tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.


The National Weather Service has also issued this Hazardous Weather Outlook...


A High Wind Warning remains in effect through Friday afternoon,
with west to northwest gusts up to 60 mph possible. Tree branches
may be blown down and power outages may occur.

Scattered convective snow showers will be possible from predawn
Friday morning through mid day Friday, especially further north
and east in the region. A few slick spots on the Friday morning
commute and slushy accumulations less than 1 inch are possible.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the entire region Saturday
evening through Monday afternoon. Significant accumulating snow,
blowing snow, and wintry mix are possible. Pay close attention to
the forecast if planning to travel during this timeframe.
