Names Released In Fatal Accident

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials have released the names of the Jefferson couple involved in a fatal traffic crash on County Highway M near County J in the Town of Clyman Sunday morning. Seventy-seven-year-old John Wellman was driving the Chevy Impala when he lost control on the snow-covered and slippery roads and it slid off the road. The car hit a railroad signal gate crossing. He was taken to Watertown Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His 77-year-old wife Helen, who was a passenger in the car, was flown to Aurora Medical Center in Summit, Wisconsin where she died. It was Dodge County’s first fatal traffic accident of the year.
