Naturalist and wildlife educator Bill Volkert to present at Byron Historical Society’s meeting

The Byron Historical Society is inviting the public to a talk from naturalist and wildlife educator Bill Volkert, who will present “History and Ecology of Horicon Marsh” at the Byron Historical Society’s June 15th monthly meeting.

Volkert worked as the naturalist and wildlife educator for the Wisconsin DNR at Horicon Marsh for 27 years where he conducted education programs for visitors and professional training for scientists from many parts of the world.

The program will be an overview of the geology, history, wildlife and ecological concerns for maintaining the health and integrity of Horicon Marsh, which is recognized as a wetland of international importance.

The program will begin after a brief meeting starting at 7 pm at the Byron Town Hall, located at N3097 Highway 175 in Byron. Additional information is available by emailing organizers at byronhistorical@att.net.
