Near record high temperatures Saturday

Unseasonably warm weather will continue across Fond du Lac through the Columbus Day holiday, but a cold front is expected to bring a noticeable cooldown early next week.

A warm front has already moved through the region, allowing warmer air to spread northward from the south. Low pressure over the northern Plains is helping maintain those southerly winds, while sunshine will help push temperatures into the lower 80s.

That summerlike pattern is expected to continue through Monday, before a cold front moves through Monday night. That front could bring showers and a few thunderstorms, followed by a wind shift to the north and a much cooler air mass.

High temperatures are expected to fall into the middle 60s Tuesday and remain in the lower to middle 60s for much of the middle of next week.

While the forecasted high temperature Saturday will be close to a record, it will likely fall just shy of the record high temperature of 87 degrees set in 1930 and 1938.
