David Edward Henning Sr.

David Edward Henning Sr., 85, of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was born in Eldorado on December 30th, 1939, to Cedric and Olivia (Daley) Henning. He married Jane Ellen Toland on December 29th, 1962.

Survivors include his son Scot (Jodi) Henning, granddaughter Sophia, grandsons Benny (Myah Stern), Sam, and Ian (Emily) Arthur, sister Devra Scott, sister-in-law Clara Henning, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Jane (Toland) Henning, his son David Jr., daughter-in-law Judy, his parents, brothers Ronald and Ross, brother-in-law Michael Scott, and in-laws Gerald & Patricia Renderman, and Bill & Mary Kurtzweg.

David (aka “Mike”) loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He attended UW-Oshkosh and served in the US Army National Guard. He was a Locomotive Engineer on the Soo Line Railroad from 1960-1999. He was an avid fisherman his entire life, fishing Wisconsin lakes and rivers, treasuring many years on the Menominee River with family and friends. He also enjoyed auto racing, both as a driver and fan – frequenting Road America from its opening in 1955 until he turned 80 years old. He was a generous man who helped many people, and will be deeply missed.

Services: A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 5pm Friday, December 5th at Zacherl Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 4pm on Friday until the time of services. Zacherl Funeral Home is serving the family.
