Elizabeth “Betty” K. Lichtenwald
Elizabeth “Betty” K. Lichtenwald, 86, of Fond du Lac, passed away at the Woodlands on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Betty was born in Fond du Lac on September 4, 1936. She was the middle daughter of Andrew and Martha Gutreuter. On September 29, 1956, Betty married Carl C. Lichtenwald at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2010.

She enjoyed the family vacations in Waupaca on the Chain of Lakes. She loved her house on Park Avenue and all her neighbors around that block. Betty really adored “Her Park” (Lakeside Park). Wherever she went out during the day, she started by going around the park, and then on her way home she went around the park again. It was not uncommon that Betty would go through the park several times a day.
Betty is survived by her three children: Thomas G. (Helen) of North Fond du Lac, Daniel P. (Sandra) of Fond du Lac and Kathryn A. (Jeffrey) Nelson of Franksville. She had eight grandchildren: Michael (Jackie) Lichtenwald, Wendy (Daniel) McGurk, Meredith (Paul) Pucci, Matthew (Sarah) Lichtenwald, Christina (Edward) Wagner, Allison (Blake) Falkenthal, Mitchell (Sandra) Krueger and Tyler Krueger. Betty further had 17 great grandchildren: Kylie, Conner, Kaelyn, Dylan and Sawyer Lichtenwald, Yaretzi Mojica, Otto Kruger, Issac and Addie Lichtenwald, Jackson, Samuel and Anna Pucci, Nolan and Grady McGurk, Kaydence Falkenthal, William and Eleanor Wagner. Betty is survived by her sister Marian Sabel and her sister-in-law Elaine Lichtenwald.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl, whom she loved with all her heart. Parents Andrew and Martha Gutreuter, and sister Mary Jean Schiller. Additionally, brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary (Joseph) Wilson, Walter (Elsie) Lichtenwald, Helen (Richard Silah), Reuben (Ruth) Lichtenwald, Lloyd (Florence) Lichtenwald, Florence (Ambrose) Koepke, Philip (Dorothy) Lichtenwald Jr., Marilyn (Edwin) Thomson, Alex Lichtenwald, Gerald Schiller and David Sabel.
