Gary J. Heinz

Gary J. Heinz, 79 of Taycheedah, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation surrounded by family. He was born August 16, 1945 to the late Eldon and Charlotte (Moede) Heinz in Shawano County.

Gary graduated from Oakfield High School in 1962 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps with his best friend. He served proudly for more than 30 years including 3 tours in Vietnam.

Gary loved the Lord, he was active in local churches as he moved around the country with the Marine Corps serving children and young adults through their ministries. He and his wife Sandy served as missionaries to the military in San Antonio for nearly a decade.

Gary loved his family. They left San Antonio to return to Wisconsin, settling in Taycheedah to be near siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Gary is survived by his only daughter Theresa; 3 grandchildren Ryan Duchene, Steven Duchene, and Alex Duchene; 3 great grandchildren Alissa (Tyler) Heimsoth, Stella and Serena Duchene; 3 sisters Joy (Dennis) Groll, Connie (Will) Kennedy, and Nancy (Bill) Campbell; 4 brothers Eldon (Nancy) Heinz, Phillip (Laurie) Heinz, Bob (Debbie) Heinz, and Reinherd (Diana) Heinz; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don, and beloved wife Sandy.

He will be greatly missed by all.

SERVICES: Gary’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Trinity Baptist Church, 400 East Johnson Street, Fond du Lac, WI, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 1:00 PM. Burial and military honors will follow at Oak Center Cemetery in Oakfield, WI.
