Harry A. “Jake” Jacobs
Harry A. “Jake” Jacobs, 89, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital.
He was born on March 9, 1925, in the Town of Eldorado, a son of Harry R. and Freida M. Abraham Jacobs. He graduated in 1943 from Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
Harry served with the United States Navy, in the Pacific, from 1943-1946.
In May of 1952, he married Lucille Meyer, with Rev. Fred Landdeck officiating. Together the couple operated a dairy farm in the Town of Friendship for 25 years.
Harry went on to pursue a career as manager at Northwest Supply until his retirement in 1992. Harry enjoyed woodcrafts, gardening, and driving his John Deere lawnmower. He loved spending time with his family.
Harry was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille of 62 years; five children: Linda (John) Hohensee, Daniel (Kathleen) Jacobs, Lori (Pat) Dobbs, Lisa (James) Konen, and Dale Jacobs; grandchildren: James (Stephanie) Hohensee and their daughter, Penelope, Michael Hohensee, Jennifer (Chris) Grafton and their daughter, Kinsley, Benjamin Jacobs (fiancée Jourdan), Kurt Jacobs (fiancée, Gabrielle), Adam Dobbs, Melissa Dobbs, Joshua Konen, Stephanie Konen, Caleb Konen, and Emilie Konen; two brothers: Edward Jacobs and David (Irene) Jacobs; three sisters-in-law: Gloria Jacobs, Jean Jacobs, and Donna Jacobs; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; a grandson, Mark Hohensee; four brothers: Richard, Elton, Ronald, and Carlton Jacobs; two sisters: Marilyn (Hubert) Fenske and Elisabeth (Carl) Wegner; two sisters-in-law: Bertie Jacobs and Iris Jacobs;
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Rick Engen officiating.
The visitation will be on Friday at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
