Marilyn Jean Giebel

Marilyn Jean Giebel of Eldorado, 75, passed away peacefully at home after over a 4 year fight with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy on September 30, 2026 with her family by her side. She was born February 22, 1951 to the late Bernard and Jeanette (Reinl) Brenner in Fond du Lac.

Marilyn attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from St. Mary Springs Academy in 1969. Early in her marriage, she worked on the farm while dedicating herself to raising her family. She later went on to earn her Associate Degree in Nursingfrom MPTC. After becoming a Registered Nurse, she worked in Home Health Care and Hospice and later for the Fond du Lac School District as a school nurse at Fond du Lac High School and Riverside Elementary.

Marilyn married Francis Giebel on September 4, 1971. Throughout Marilyn’s illness, Fran provided loving and selfless care, doing everything he could to keep her comfortable. The family would also like to recognize hospice staff Sandy and Sarah, SSM Adult Day Services and granddaughter Addison for their compassionate care and support of Marilyn.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Fran; children Karen (Andy) Raben, Linda (Rayelle) Diedrich, and Mark (Toni) Giebel; grandchildren Emma, Cole and Macy Raben, Reed, Addison and Kensley McCauley, Ramsey Diedrich, Jack and Cayman Giebel.

She is further survived by siblings Robert (Sharon) Brenner, Daniel (Carol) Brenner, Carol (Christopher) Baltz, Virginia (Steve) Balthazor, and David Brenner, other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by an infant daughter Lisa Ann, niece Carrie Hoch, parents-in-law Paul and Helana Giebel and sister-in-law Heather Brenner.

Marilyn enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with her scrapbooking friends, and creating many different arts and crafts, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, ceramics, and painting. She also enjoyed puzzling and card making with her dear friend Leanne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. Friends and relatives can visit with the family starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family welcomes and encourages all friends and relatives to join them for a meal in Good Samaritan Hall at St. Raphael following Mass and to take this opportunity to gather, reconnect, and share memories together.
