Melody Milbrandt

Melody Milbrandt, 38, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away on September 10, 2026, leaving behind a life and legacy that touched more people than she likely ever realized.
Melody was born on November 24, 1987, in Phoenix, Arizona. She grew up in Arizona and also spent part of her life in Ireland, where she attended school, before eventually making Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, her home.
Above everything else, Melody loved being a mom. Her children, Ava Zachariae, Lux Bridges, and Grayson Milbrandt, were at the center of her world. She loved children in general, and children seemed to naturally gravitate toward her. She had a way of making them feel comfortable, welcomed, safe, and loved.
Melody was the kind of person who never met a stranger. She welcomed people exactly as they were, gave the kind of hugs you remembered, and had an infectious laugh that could fill a room. She was constantly thinking of others, always bringing someone something or sending them something simply because it reminded her of them. Those seemingly small gestures were simply who Melody was: thoughtful, generous, compassionate, and always noticing the people around her.
She was also an incredibly gifted writer and loved writing poetry. Melody was athletic and took up running, and she enjoyed fishing and hunting. She was an amazing cook and had experience working as a cook and in event coordination. She later owned a cleaning business and worked as a respite care provider, a role that reflected her natural ability to care for and connect with others.
When Melody committed herself to something, she gave it her whole heart. She didn’t need recognition or attention for the work she did. Give Melody a task, and she would simply get it done and get it done well.
That same heart was evident in her service to others. Melody was deeply involved with We EmpowHER and was passionate about supporting women, particularly women in recovery. She was also connected with Beacon House, Gratitude Club, and other recovery and faith communities. Melody was a woman of faith who knew firsthand the importance of community, compassion, second chances, and having people beside you during life’s hardest seasons.
Her impact on the women around her was recognized when she received We EmpowHER’s Spread Your Wings Sisterhood Award at the organization’s Spread Your Wings Gala. Yet an award could never fully capture what Melody gave to others. Her greatest impact was found in the countless individual lives she touched, the women she encouraged, the children she cared for, the friends she showed up for, and the people she made feel as though they mattered.
Melody is survived by her beloved children, Ava Zachariae, Lux Bridges, and Grayson Milbrandt; her father and stepmother, Scott and Melodi Milbrandt; her sisters, Melissa, Sarah, Jessica, Amber, Nicole, KC, and Sarah Bailey; her brother, Anthony Milbrandt; and many extended family members and close friends who loved her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her nephew, Ruairi Frawley.
There are people who enter our lives quietly and leave behind an impact far greater than they ever knew. Melody was one of those people. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her hugs, her writing, her fierce love for her children, her willingness to help, and her extraordinary ability to make people feel welcomed and cared for.
She will be remembered as an amazing mom, an incredible friend, a woman of faith, and someone who showed up for others wholeheartedly without asking for recognition in return.
Most of all, Melody will be remembered by the people whose lives are different simply because they had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family and loved ones find comfort in the words of 1 Corinthians 15:51–57, a passage that speaks of death giving way to victory and the promise that death does not have the final word.
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
— 1 Corinthians 15:54–55 (NIV)
