Melvin J. Whittaker
Melvin “Mervz” J. Whittaker,
68, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at his residence,
with his family by his side.
He was born on August 24,
1950, in Fond du Lac, the son of Louis and Dorothy (Faul) Whittaker. Mel worked his way through high school at
S.S. Kresges. Mel was a veteran of the
United States Army, serving in Vietnam. On
July 25, 1970, he married Kathy Emery at St. Patrick’s Church in Fond du
Lac. They would have celebrated their 49th
Wedding Anniversary on July 25.
Mel loved his ’49 Chev and
going to the vintage car shows throughout the Midwest. He also enjoyed his MG convertible, weather
permitting. Coin collecting was a
passion. He also traveled to the
Milwaukee Admiral Hockey games with his nephew Ryan. Mel enjoyed the time spent with nieces and
nephews. He attended as many sporting
events as he could. He loved seeing them
grow to the special adults they are now.
The great nieces and nephews are incredible kids. Mel will truly miss their adventures into
adulthood.
Mel wanted to thank his
brother Bill, sister in-law, Evie and their kids Traci, Tara, Todd and Dawn for
always including us as if we were all one big family. Mel had a great many memories with them. Mel
tried not to have favorites (Traci) but their bond was undeniable.
He is survived by his wife of
49 GREAT years, Kathy Whittaker, six brothers: Tom (Jan), Bill (Evie), Dave,
Bob (Susie), Carl (Pat), Randy (Connie); four sisters: KT (Jim) Stephany, Diane
(Joe) Ule, Nancy (Oscar) Pfeiffer, Carol/Lu (Tom) Carlson; sister in-law: Mary
(Monty) Nelson; numerous and the best nieces, nephews and great nieces and
