Richard W. Batchelder
Richard W. Batchelder, 90, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born in Warren, Ohio on July 19, 1925 to William and Mary (Porter) Batchelder.
While traveling through Wisconsin for work he met and eventually married Catherine Wagner on Dec. 11, 1945. The young couple lived briefly in Ohio, but returned to Fond du Lac with their young children. Richard was an independent appliance repairman. He then went to work for Mercury Marine, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of employment. He loved to be in the great outdoors, especially while fishing.
Survivors include his two children; Mike (Linda) and Patty (Steve) Milligan; three grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Horetzki, Paul (Nicki) Batchelder and Amy (fiancé Mike Howarth) Peacock; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Fink, Sam Horetzki, Ethan and Leyton Batchelder, Brynn and Brady Peacock and Hevlihn Howarth; two sisters, Karen (Nick) Martinez and Jeanette Simpson; a brother, Ralph Batchelder; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Buell, Blanch Rahl and Vi Wagner; and special family friend, Jim Muthig. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, in 2003; his parents; two brothers; one sister; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Richard’s visitation will be held Thur., Jan. 14, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Private family entombment will occur on Fri., Jan. 15, 2016 at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope.
