Robert E. Lefeber
Robert E. Lefeber, age 91, of Cleveland, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in New Holstein following a stroke. He was born September 16, 1927 in Stockbridge, son of the late Hubert & Nora (Pauly) Lefeber.
Bob was a hard worker all of his life, working on the family farm as a very young man with horse drawn plows, he proudly served his country in the Korean War, worked as a mechanic at the Dodge Garage in Appleton, the Hillside Cheese Factory, and after many years, he retired from Tecumseh Products in 1989.
In September of 1953, he married Betty Schenkus and they had 5 children: Vicky, Randy, twins Tim & Tom and Rick.
Bob had talents for many things. As a carpenter, he built his own home; as a mechanic, he had reliable vehicles; as a neighbor and friend, people could always rely on him for a helping hand. Even plowing for his neighbor in Cleveland the week before his heart surgery in 2014.
For enjoyment, Bob liked building grandfather clocks, took pride in having the best looking yard in the neighborhood, & gardening and canning the produce he grew. Bob looked forward to going to Jefferson and Iola car shows with his boys, going out to breakfast and looking at old tractors. They were simple, but important delights in his life. He always got the biggest smile on his face when he saw his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Most importantly, he passed his work ethics, knowledge and his love for helping others on to his children, which they will be forever grateful. They are so blessed to have had such a great role model in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Hubert & Nora (Pauly) Lefeber; brothers: James, Marvin, Al, Helmuth & Walter; his sisters: Margie Hawley, Dorothy Levknecht, & Marie Meier; a grandson: Tyler Lefeber; and 2 nephews: Michael & Ricky Lefeber.
Bob is survived by his children: Vicky (Jim) Head, Randy (Jackie), Tom (Kathy), Tim (Julie), Rick (Lisa); grandchildren: Kelly (Jason) Hunsader, Krystal Pfeifer & Brittany Lefeber; and his great grandchildren: Grace, Grant, Reed & Charlie.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
Bob’s family would like to thank the entire staff of Atrium in New Holstein and the caring nurses of Aurora at Home Hospice for all of the loving care that was shown to both Bob and his entire family.
