Roy J. Strutz

Roy J. Strutz, 65, of Green Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023. He was born February 8, 1958 in Fond du Lac, the son of Arthur C. Strutz Jr. and Bernice V. Strutz. Roy became the youngest of their four sons who they loved dearly. They were the “Strutz Boys”.

Most of Roy’s youth was spent in Fond du Lac as he enjoyed the many friends, family and life experiences. Roy graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1976. At the time he did not yet know the women he would marry was in the same graduating class.

In 1977 growth and opportunities away from Fond du Lac moved Roy to join the United States Air Force. His active Air Force duty from 1977 – 1981, placed him as an electrical power production specialist working in power plants at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey from 1977 – 1979 and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California from 1979 – 1981.

After his return to Wisconsin he desire to further serve our country was supported as he joined the Army Reserves. First serving with the Fond du Lac unit, as a drill sergeant and then with the Appleton ordnance unit. In 2003 the Appleton ordnance unit was called to active duty and Roy and his fellow soldiers were sent to Afghanistan. Roy retired from his military career after 30 years of service, which his family is so proud and appreciative of his service. Roy worked for Mercury Marine until his retirement in 2022.

Prior to his departure Roy rekindled a high school friendship with Linda Porter. This friendship led them to marriage. On February 13, 2003 Roy and Linda were married at Memorial Baptist Church in Fond du Lac. Roy’s role as husband also brought him the joy of fatherhood as he adopted Jessica and gave her the name of Strutz. Roy was a supportive and loving father to Jessica as he thought the world of her.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; one daughter, Jessica Strutz; his mother, Bernice Strutz; three siblings, Dennis (Jennie) Strutz, Jerry Strutz, and Linda (Steve) Schneider; sister-in-law, Judy Strutz; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; and his brother, David Strutz.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow the service in Estabrooks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Roy’s name.
