One in custody after Oshkosh shooting that injured one
One person is in custody, and another was injured following a shooting in Oshkosh Friday evening, March 13, 2.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called to the 2400 block of Blake Court just before 8:45 for the report of a shooting.
On scene, officers found that a person in a vehicle had fired one round into the back of another vehicle that was occupied by 5 juveniles, with the bullet striking one of them in the arm.
That person was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Using investigative technology, police were able to identify the suspect vehicle which was later located in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Sullivan Street. Detectives observed the vehicle leave this location and eventually conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Highway 21 at Oakwood Road.
Three suspects in the vehicle were taken into custody, but two were soon released, with the third being identified as the shooter.
A search warrant was conducted at the suspect’s apartment complex, where a handgun, believed to have been used in the incident, was located.
The 21-year-old man now faces five counts of 1st degree recklessly endangering safety. Police say the occupants in the two vehicles were known to each other and no other threat to the community was observed.
