Opposition to new quarry proposed in Town of Byron

A group of Fond du Lac County landowners and homeowners is organizing opposition to a proposed 112-acre open-pit quarry.

Fond du Lac Stone Development, LLC is seeking approval for the quarry in the Town of Byron, which opponents say would border an existing residential subdivision and extend below the natural water table.

The group also claims the proposal conflicts with portions of the town’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

A public hearing on the proposed special use permit is scheduled for Wednesday, September ninth, before the Board of Appeals.
