Partisan primary election Tuesday… Polls open until 8 PM
Today is voting day for the partisan primary election. Races such as United States Congress and Wisconsin and United States senate seats are on the line with this election.
On the Democratic side, Current United States Senator Tammy Baldwin is running unopposed. On the Republican side it’s Eric Hovde, Charles Barman and Rejani Raveendran.
Current District 6 Congressman Republican Glen Grothman is up against Democrat John Zarbano.
Current District 20 State Senator Republican Dan Feyen goes up against Timothy Ramthun in his own party and Democrat Michael Rapp is unopposed on the Democrat side.
And Wisconsin State Assembly Republican for District 60 Jerry O’Connor goes up against Democrat Joe Lavrenz.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, County Clerk Lisa Freiberg, County Treasurer Brenda Schneider, and Register Of Deeds Jim Krebs are all running unopposed.
There are also two state referendums both having to do with amending the state constitution when it comes to Appropriation of Power and Allocation of Federal Moneys.
Voting yes essentially gives the state assembly and state senate power to intervene in how the governor spends federal money. Republicans have tried since 2021 to pass a law restricting the governor having sole authority on the ability to spend federal funds, but Evers has vetoed their bills. The governor cannot veto a constitutional amendment if it is passed by a majority of voters.
Polls are open until 8 PM.
