Passenger jet makes emergency landing at Appleton Airport

A regional jet operated by United Airlines had to make an emergency landing at the Appleton Airport Sunday night, March 15, 2026, after pilots reported the windshield of the jet cracked.

The call came in to airport public safety around 8:20 pm with the jet being on the ground by 8:45.

A fight path of the jet showed the jet heading southeast over Lake Michigan before making an abrupt right turn near Sheboygan, heading just south of Fond du Lac, then looping back to the north to the Appleton Airport.

According to online resources, the jet departed from the Greater Rochester International Airport in New York, on it’s way to Springfield, Missouri.

There were no reports of injuries after the landing, though airport officials stated with the icy runway, the jet did slide around as it approached the gate.
