Person killed in Oshkosh house fire

An early afternoon house fire in the City of Oshkosh Sunday, April 20, 2025, claimed the life of a person that lived there.

Just before 12:30 p.m., the Oshkosh Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Burdick Street for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival Crews found heavy smoke and fire.

Firefighters were advised by neighbors that two people lived in the home. First units on the scene did a sweep of the burning house where they found one person unresponsive. That person was rushed to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased. It was learned the other person living there wasn’t home at the time of the fire.

Authorities say the home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
