Person Killed In Overnight Crash Near Fond du Lac

A single vehicle crash overnight has claimed at least one life and critically injured another.

At 3:30 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call from a person that was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a tree on Golf Course Drive between Taft and Tower Roads in the Town of Taycheedah.

The reporting person said there were two other people in the car and it didn’t appear they were breathing.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department as well as Mt Calvary Fire and Ambulance responded to scene.

The first officer on scene confirmed one person was deceased and the second was in critical condition and pinned in the vehicle.

Theda Star Medical Helicopter out of Neenah was requested for the critically injured patient.

The third person was transported to SSM/St. Agnes Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

According to police, all occupants of the vehicle were 16 years old. The driver is a male from the Mt. Calvary area and was the one air lifted from the scene. The front seat passenger was a male from the Eldorado area and was pronounced deceased at the scene and the back seat passenger is a female from Fond du Lac.

Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors in the crash.

All three involved attend different high schools in the area. Fond du Lac High, Springs and Laconia.

Golf Course Road was closed while reconstruction crews worked the scene.
