Phishing scam targeting Fond du Lac residents

The City of Fond du Lac is alerting residents, business owners, and property applicants about a recent phishing scam.

Scammers are sending fraudulent emails impersonating City staff members and requesting wire transfers of funds.
The city stresses they will never require or demand wire transfers.

And that Official City staff communications will only come from email addresses ending in @fdl.wi.gov.

If you receive a suspicious invoice or email from someone claiming to be a City staff member, do not reply to the sender or transfer any funds. If you have doubts on the e-mail, you can Verify the request directly by contacting the Community Development Department at cd@fdl.wi.gov or (920) 322-3440.
