PHOTOS: Tiffany brings Tavern Talk campaign tour to Fond du Lac

Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor Tom Tiffany brought his “Tavern Talk” campaign tour to Fond du Lac Thursday night, September 17, 2026, speaking to a crowd at Sunset on the Water before taking questions from those in attendance.

Tiffany used much of his appearance to outline his campaign priorities while sharply criticizing Democratic gubernatorial nominee David Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive who will face Tiffany in November.

Tiffany questioned whether Wisconsin voters want what he described as “Milwaukee politics” taking over state government.

Tiffany pointed to Crowley’s record in Milwaukee County, criticizing property tax increases and an increase in the county sales tax. He also criticized the county’s inmate tablet program, citing cases in which inmates allegedly used the devices to contact victims or witnesses.

Tiffany said he wants Wisconsin to have what he called “safe streets,” regardless of whether people live in Milwaukee or Minocqua.

On taxes, Tiffany said his administration would return Wisconsin’s approximately three-billion-dollar budget surplus to taxpayers. He also repeated his campaign proposal to end Ever’s “400-year property tax increase,” followed by a property tax freeze.

Tiffany said he would also eliminate state income taxes on tips and overtime.

“Working class people need a break,” Tiffany told the crowd.

Another major theme of Tiffany’s remarks was government accountability. He said he would audit every part of state government in an effort to identify waste and fraud.

Tiffany also addressed what he called a return to “common sense” in state government.

He criticized language in the state budget that refers to mothers using the term “inseminated persons,” saying his administration would use the word “mothers.”

Tiffany also said he would limit the flags flown above the Wisconsin State Capitol to the Wisconsin state flag and the American flag.

On agriculture, Tiffany criticized Governor Tony Evers for vetoing legislation concerning Chinese purchases of Wisconsin farmland. Tiffany has made protecting Wisconsin farmland from foreign adversaries, including China, a central part of his campaign platform.

Tiffany also criticized Evers over a bill concerning participation in women’s sports and accused the governor of blocking efforts to audit state government.

He ended by telling the crowd that he intends to carry those priorities into the November election and “turn this state red.”

The Fond du Lac appearance was part of Tiffany’s statewide “Tavern Talk with Tom” tour.

Also attending the Fond du Lac event were local Republican politicians Marty Ryan, Glen Grothman and Jerry O’Connor. Fond du Lac County District Attorney and Republican candidate for Wisconsin Attorney General Eric Toney introduced Tiffany and also addressed the crowd.

The November 3, 2026 general election will pit Tiffany against Crowley in the race to succeed Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
