Police Won’t Pull You Over to Check Compliance with “Safer at Home” Order

Governor Tony Evers issued the “Safer at Home” order this
week, closing all non-essential business and asking people to stay at home as
the state continues to work to stop the spread of COVID-19.

While some may still be unclear on parts of the order – or what
is considered “essential” or “non-essential” business, one thing is clear – Fond
du Lac Police Officers will not be stopping you to make sure you are complying
with the Governor’s order.

The Police Department posted on their Facebook page
Wednesday afternoon saying that officers will not be stopping drivers, or asking
people who are stopped for a traffic violation or a crime to “produce any type
of credentials or documentation indicating they are on essential travel.”

Police do ask that you take the order seriously and
voluntarily comply with it.
