Public comments sought for curb ramp improvements in Fond du Lac County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces proposed improvements on WIS 23, US 151, and US 45 in the city of Fond du Lac, and the towns of Taycheedah and Empire in Fond du Lac County. The proposed improvements are part of a statewide initiative to bring existing curb ramps on state facilities into compliance with standards outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Construction is currently scheduled for 2028. The project aims to address curb ramp deficiencies by installing and updating curb ramps to meet ADA compliance when possible. This will remove or reduce obstacles and barriers to pedestrian travel.

Each curb ramp location will be investigated to verify if the curb ramps meet current ADA standards. Any curb ramps in the project not meeting ADA standards will be evaluated and, if possible, removed and replaced so they comply with ADA standards.

Project maps, curb ramp exhibits, and location displays are available for public view on the website. The public is encouraged to review the proposed improvements and provide input. The website provides three methods for comment: Email, phone, and comment form with a prepaid mailer available for download.
