Public Safety Announcement – Lincoln Ave Area – Thin Ice Warning

The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works would like to share a high-priority safety warning for all river users, including snowmobilers, UTV operators, and pedestrians. The Contractor is on-site making necessary provisions for the upcoming operations.

During the week of February 10, the new Lincoln Ave Storm Pump Station, located south of Johnson Street Bridge, will enter a critical testing phase. This process involves siphoning and discharging large volumes of water to and from the river. The Contractor is currently on-site making provisions for this work.

Hazard: Unstable Ice Conditions

Due to the continuous movement of water, ice thickness in the vicinity of the pump station will be highly unpredictable.

· Expect thin ice or open water, even if surrounding areas appear solid.

· Moving water prevents consistent freezing, making the area unsafe.

Action Required

· Avoid the area: Motorists are advised to stay well clear of the Lincoln Ave station discharge point.

· Watch for signage: Temporary “Thin Ice” signs will be posted.

We thank the community for their cooperation while we bring this essential infrastructure online.
