Quick hit of snow Wednesday morning causes serious issues on area roads

A line of moderate snowfall passing over the area early this morning contributed to numerous crashes and cars in the ditch in the area.

Things started Just after 4:30 a.m., when reports started coming in that a semi lost control and jackknifed, coming to rest blocking all northbound lanes of I-41, just south of Highway 76 north of Oshkosh.

In Fond du Lac County, just after 5 a.m., two pick up trucks crashed in the westbound lanes of Highway 23 at 7 hills road blocking both lanes.

As more drivers came out on the roads for their morning commutes, more crashes occurred.

Both City and County of Fond du Lac officers responded to dozens of crashes and run offs.

Included in the mayhem, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy’s cruiser was struck while out at a separate crash at 45 and K, and a school bus with 20 kids on board was involved in a minor crash at Johnson Street near Highway 151.
