Redgranite Quarry closes amidst trouble makers
A popular summertime swim destination has closed temporarily while officials grapple with what to do with trouble makers at the location.
The Redgranite Quarry has closed, leaving residents and regular visitors searching for alternatives for swimming and cooling down.
The quarry cited fighting, littering, drinking, and graffiti as the reasons for the closure.
The closure came with no warning as people that drove from up to an hour away to use the quarry Tuesday, June 2, 2026, were turned away, facing a sign saying anyone caught trespassing faces a $263 fine.
Some say Police supervising like they have in the past has worked to keep some of that behavior away.
The quarry previously closed in 2020 for similar reasons.
The village says the quarry will reopen once a solution is found to prevent the lawlessness.
