Refurbished 1860s building at center of open house Wednesday at State Farm Insurance new location

Local State Farm Insurance agent Sam Meyer, who recently relocated his office from 42 north Main Street to 127 north Main Street is having an open house Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to showcase the new location.
In December of 2023, Meyer relocated a civil war era building from the corner of 1st and Marr Street to it’s current location of Main and Merrill. A move that took the entire day and captivated hundreds of people who stopped by along the path of the move to watch.

With it’s new home on Main Street, people could watch the daily renovations that were being done to the building as well as the additions Meyer made to the north, extending the old building into a more modern looking structure. Meyer says this viewership created lots of interest in his new location with lots of people expressing interest in wanting to see the finished product, so he figured an open house was in order.
This is Meyer’s 5th historic building he’s refurbished in Fond du Lac. One of his other more popular building remodels is the current location of his other business, 18 Hands Ale House. A bar and restaurant at the corner of Division and Portland that won an award in 2020 for best exterior façade restoration.
In 2024, Meyer won the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership’s renovation of the year award for the new State farm Insurance building.
The open house runs from 9 am to 5 pm with tours of the building and a ribbon cutting at 1 PM. Food and drinks will be provided from 12-3 and a live mariachi band will play from 12-2.
