Rides on restored WWII planes being offered at Fond du Lac County Airport
If you’re headed to AirVenture or not, you can get your aviation geek fill right here at the Fond du Lac County Airport.
Five restored WWII-era aircraft from Commemorative Air Force Airbase in Georgia are flying in to the area for AirVenture and will be based at the Fond du Lac airport. The Airbase will be offering rides to the public on four of the aircraft with rides reserved in advance by going to the website airbasegeorgia.org.
Planes available for rides are a P-51 Mustang, a Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber; an LT-6 Mosquito, and a T-34 Mentor. Rides on these four aircraft will be available to the public at Fond du Lac County Airport July 21-25. The Airbase is also sending a rare P-63 KingCobra fighter for public display at AirVenture.
