Semi crashes on I-41, dumps 130 gallons of fuel

I-41 in Fond du Lac County had to be closed for a portion of the night Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to remove a semi that crashed earlier.

At 12:15 am, deputies were sent to the crash in the southbound lanes between Main Street and Highway 151.

Officers arrived on scene to find the semi completely off the highway with a ruptured fuel tank that was leaking approximately 130 gallons of deisel fuel out. With the ongoing rain and the proximity to the east branch of the Fond du Lac River, the Wisconsin DNR was notified of the potential of fuel making its way to the river.

No injuries were reported in the crash and crews worked for several hours to remove the truck with traffic being diverted off the highway on Hickory Street to 151 and then back to 41.

Traffic was reopened around 4 o’clock Tuesday morning.
