Severe weather – tornadoes impact area

A cold front spawned numerous severe storms over southern Wisconsin Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with a tornado warned storm moving right through central Fond du Lac County.
Initially storms formed in southwest Wisconsin dropping tornadoes in Iowa, Dane and Juneau Counties.

As those storms moved along, two other rotating storms, known as supercells, formed further east in Dodge County. These storms dropped tornadoes near Hustisford and just south of Waupun.

At this time, no damage to structures has been reported but officials from the National Weather Service will be out looking at the path of the tornadoes for any damage.
The storm near Waupun stayed tornado warned for over a half hour as it moved northeast, bearing right towards the city of Fond du Lac. Luckily the storm weakened just to the southwest of the city.
With ample moisture in the air, copious amounts of rain fell over the area. Flash flood warnings were issued in Fond du Lac, Winnebago and Outagamie counties with 2 to 3 inches of rain falling over the area in a short period of time.
With impending severe weather and heavy rainfall, the Fond du Lac County Fair was closed down temporarily and the grandstand event truck and tractor pulls had to be cancelled.
